Weekend Reads: Meet the Team

We’ve had two exciting releases this week: our Windows 8 app and our UK Catalog! Who made the magic happen this week? Our Web and Business Development teams—meet them, and see what they’re reading, below!

Our Web Team:

Filip, Lead Web Developer

“On a daily basis I read mostly tech with a mixture of men’s lifestyle. Some of my favorite sources include The Verge, Lifehacker, AskMen, GQ and Men’s Health. When I unwind I’ll checkout my Art & Photography page which has [daily dose of imagery], From Me To You and Awesome People Hanging Out Together.”

What Filip’s reading this week:

The Gear You Need To Make The Perfect Martini (AskMen)
Google Maps Puts Apple Maps to Shame (Mashable)

Twitter who? Instagram cozies up to places pal Foursquare (Jennifer Van Grove/VentureBeat)(Techmeme)

Ketaki, Web Developer

“My favorite sources on Pulse include Harvard Business Review, Fast Company Co.Exist and some really good cooking blogs.”

What Ketaki’s reading this week:

Urban Air Project, Converting Billboards into Bamboo Gardens (Laughing Squid)

Videos: Rare Glimpses of Amazing Birds-of-Paradise Courtship Rituals (Wired)

Justin, Web Developer

“I enjoys reading a variety of sources about tech, music and society, like The Verge, MacRumors, GOOD, Pitchfork, and Brain Pickings.”

Our Business Development Team:

Ross, Head of Business Development & Partnerships

“I read a wide breadth of content sources on Pulse, but they tend towards niche content areas rather than broadly based general feeds. For instance, I love the Bleacher Report & SB Nation San Francisco Giants & 49ers feeds, respectively, found in our Local Sports categories on mobile/tablet apps. I also love the Premium Water Cooler feed from WSJ found on iOS devices ($0.99 a month for 15-20 articles from the WSJ a day? That’s amazing!) And, my guilty pleasures are Men’s Fitness, AskMen, Uncut, and of course, the Best of Men’s Lifestyle aggregated feed.”

What Ross is reading this week:

The Rhythm In Everything: A hip-hop pioneer reinvents late night music. (The New Yorker)
“BAMA WON’T ALWAYS WIN!!!”  (The New Yorker: The Sporting Scene)
Make and Give Better First Impressions by Bringing Out Their True Nature (Lifehacker)

Bored of the Rings (Slate)

Jessica, Partnerships Manager

“It’s tough to pinpoint just one favorite sources but I generally enjoy reading articles from Business (Inc. and Harvard Business Review) and Women’s Lifestyle - particularly beauty and fashion.  I gravitate towards Business as I find the articles are effective for personal growth and development and Women’s Lifestyle as I am passionate about fashion.”

What Jessica is reading this week:

6 Things Really Productive People Do (Inc.)

The Ultimate Guide to S.F.’s 5 Hottest Winter Sales (Refinery29)
