Pulse Profiles: Gaming, Fatherhood, and Pulse

The third installment of Pulse Profiles is about getting to know a father that has a love for gaming and information consumption.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

A: I work in import and exports but more interestingly, I blog a lot. I write reviews for G Style Magazine and my own blog, The Gamer With Kids (TGWK). I’ve been blogging for a long time and The Gamer With Kids evolved into my own reviews of games and anything tech related.

Q: The Gamer With Kids is an interesting blog name. How did you develop that title?

A: The Gamer With Kids came about on a whim. About 5 years ago, my first son was born and that pretty much changed my whole outlook on gaming. No longer was I able to game for long periods of time anymore or play as loud as I wanted to. I had to literally change my habits.

It was several years before the name came about. During that time, my son started to pay attention to what I was playing and started playing a few computer games, xbox games, and iPhone games. At this point, I knew it was time to start finding games that were more family friendly and less adult in nature. TGWK was born. On the site, I mainly deal with iOS games and ones that are family friendly that my kids can play. I also deal with iPhone and iPad tech and accessories since they go hand in hand.

Q: And do you have some favorite games?

A: I’m pretty addicted to Skyrim right now. I’d consider it the game of the year. It’s like a fantasy RPG. People are playing it on most consoles. It’s the fifth installment in the series but it’s my first time playing it. Best game ever.

Q: How do you keep up with new games and technology?

A: I use Pulse for reading and organizing my news sites. I read mostly tech blogs, a few game blogs here and there, and car sources. A lot of the sources on Pulse are things I’d read on the computer but nowadays, I don’t have time to sit at my computer all the time so it’s helpful to have my sources on my phone or iPad when I’m on the go.

Some of my sources on these categories include Joystick, Kotaku, Engadget, Gizmodo, All Things D, and Cult of Mac. I check these sources daily and all day, whenever I get a free moment.
